A: The Wire tensioner is a device made of box section and a chain which goes round the ball hitch which clamps to the sheep wire so that it can be pulled by the quad you are using. The quad needs to be no less than a 450cc bike to be able to pull 50 metres of sheepwire , also needed is 2 post holders filled with posts or coils of wire to add weight to the bike, so that better traction is achieved. Surprising tension can be accomplished when these are in place. The Wire Tensioner is great as all strands are strained at the same time so a nice finish is gained. A hand throttle needs to be fitted to your quad if fencing on your own so that the pull can continue when you are off the quad hammering in the steeples as the wire is straining.
